Praying For The Man You Love | Day 5: Joy

Loving Father,

I pray that your Holy Spirit will minister to my Love today and just flood him with a nearly inexpressible joy. In light of all you’ve done for him, of all you’ve brought him through, of all that has yet to unfold in his life… Your ways are not our ways- they are so much better- and I pray he will be filled with excitement at that prospect.

Make his heart to smile and his steps to be light with a joy today that comes only from knowing You. May this joy show on his face and make others wonder what has him so happy. Let that joy spill over to others in his words, his actions, and his expressions, for a cheerful look brings joy to the heart.

In Proverbs we read that a cheerful heart is good medicine; and Your will is for us to be healthy, both physically, mentally, and spiritually. Therefore you have given us reasons as innumerable as the stars to be joyful. May he grasp this. May the cloak of gratitude settle upon him so that he cannot shake the need to praise You and be invigorated by all that You have shown Yourself to be.

And God… on the hard days… the seemingly joyless, gloomy, and frustrating ones… help him to still choose joy. Because it is a choice, and this choice is tested when our enemy steals our focus to rest upon all the mischief he is about in our lives.

Help my dear to not be fooled; let his eyes stay fixed to the truth of your words and help him remember that Someone died so that he might live. He is of great worth in Your eyes. He is worth dying for. And because of Your sacrifice, he has something amazing to live for. A great and glorious purpose: from and through You.

There is so much to be joyful for, let our hearts dwell there. Thank You, God! Amen.

“Choosing joy” yes, everyday. We need to constantly be reminded to keep our focus on our one true Lover, Jesus. For only He can fill our hearts with His “Inexpressible joy.”
